When the Van Buren family and Keokee, Virginia community gather at the Blue Star Bar and Grill to celebrate the achievements of favorite son, Harlan, who has just earned two Masters’ degrees, family resentments are served up along with the banana pudding and potato salad. What’s worse is that Harlan’s friend from “off” tags along to the event, looking for the cast of “Deliverance” or “The Beverly Hillbillies.”
