Illuminating Spotlight’s Creative Spirit
Spotlight Community Day transforms Old Town Fairfax into a vibrant, walkable festival of art, music, technology, and community experiences. Anchored by the popular Old Town Art Walk, the day brings together local artists, students, performers, makers, and businesses in a dynamic celebration of creativity and discovery.
At the heart of the day is the Student Arts & Technology Showcase, where Fairfax Academy students present live performances, interactive exhibits, and creative work across disciplines including music, theatre, film, game design, visual arts, and fashion.
Throughout the district, visitors can explore the Main Street Market, enjoy live music and busking, participate in hands-on maker activities, and engage with innovative technology experiences, including robotics and digital media demonstrations. The day also features cultural performances, family-friendly programming, and activations from community partners, local businesses, and regional organizations.
Additional highlights include chalk art, children’s programming at the library, historic tours, and a wide range of food and beverage offerings from Old Town restaurants and vendors.
Together, these elements create a “festival within the festival”, an immersive, multi-layered experience that reflects Fairfax’s growing creative economy and the integration of arts, technology, and community.
