The Cathedral Brass of Vienna Presbyterian Church, will perform a free concert titled “Americans We” with guest artist Graham Breedlove, on Saturday, May 22nd at 7:00 pm at Veterans Amphitheatre in Fairfax. Mr. Breedlove is a trumpet soloist with the Army Blues jazz ensemble, part of The United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” in Washington, DC and he has appeared as a soloist, composer/arranger or lead player on seven CDs with the Army Blues.
Together with Mr. Breedlove, the Brass will perform a variety of classical, jazz, and popular favorites that celebrate the breadth and beauty of America’s musical heritage. Featured works include Mr. Breedlove’s New Orleans jazz arrangement of the gospel hymn Precious Lord, Take My Hand, Chicago’s 25 or 6 to 4, Morton Gould’s American Salute, and John Williams’ Swing, Swing, Swing from the movie “1941”. This concert is presented through the generosity of the Fairfax Commission on the Arts.
Founded in 1983 by the Ray and Sharyl Abell, the Cathedral Brass is a large brass and percussion ensemble dedicated to high quality performance of unique sacred and secular music for the enjoyment of the greater Washington, DC community.
